It was an ugly Monday for the share market. The sensex lost as many as 1624 points, tumbled to its lowest level since the financial crisis of 2008.
The Nifty had its biggest one-day loss 7800 level after hitting day's low of 7769.40. The index fell 490.95 points or 5.92 percent to 7809.
The continued sell-off on Wall Street partly reflected the recent downward momentum for the markets,The sensex and Nifty are all time negative for the today session.
The Vedanta, GAIL, Tata Steel, ONGC, Reliance Industries and Cairn India were some of the biggest losers, and helped send the stock market more than lower. However, only NMDC closed in green on Nifty 50.
