The
S&P BSE Sensex rallied as much as 295 points in trade on Tuesday
after a gap-down start, led by gains in ICICI Bank, HDFC, HDFC Bank
and Tata Motors.
Tracking the momentum, the 50-share Nifty index also managed to bounce back to reclaim its crucial psychological level of 8624, supported by gains in banks, autos, and metal stocks.
At 11:18 a.m., the 30-share index was at 28,479.82, up 196.49 points or 0.70 per cent. It touched a high of 28,588.96 and a low of 28,044.49 ..
